The MITUTOYO 510-132 is a mechanical outside micrometer designed for precise external dimensional measurement in machining, fabrication, and inspection applications. It covers a measurement range of 2 inches with a graduation of 0.0001 inches and an accuracy of 0.000120 inches (3.00 micrometers). The measuring faces are solid carbide for long-term wear resistance, and the barrel and thimble carry a satin chrome finish that reduces glare under shop lighting. This micrometer is a hand tool used by machinists, toolmakers, quality control technicians, and skilled tradespeople who require reliable, repeatable linear measurements on shafts, pins, and similar workpieces.
The 510-132 is suited for use on the shop floor, in inspection rooms, and in field metrology where a calibrated mechanical micrometer is preferred over digital alternatives. It is appropriate for both general manufacturing environments and precision trade work where tolerances in the ten-thousandths of an inch range must be verified. The non-rotating spindle design protects the workpiece surface during measurement by eliminating spindle rotation contact. Measuring force is specified at 5.0 to 10.0 N (500 to 1000 gf), providing consistent anvil-to-spindle clamping without over-stressing delicate parts.
Designed as a standard mechanical outside micrometer suitable for general external measurement tasks across machining, fabrication, and inspection applications where a 2 inch range instrument is required.
This is a hand measurement instrument, not an installed component. Calibration should be verified against a known standard before use and at regular service intervals per your quality system requirements. Store in the supplied fitted plastic case when not in use to protect the measuring faces and thimble threads. Do not store the micrometer with the anvil and spindle in contact, as thermal expansion can damage the frame.
