The MITUTOYO 500-733-20 is an electronic digital caliper designed for precision dimensional measurement in industrial and shop-floor environments. Part of the 500 ABSOLUTE Coolant-Proof series, it measures from 0 to 6 inches (0 to 150 mm) with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.0010 inches. The caliper carries an IP67 rating, making it fully resistant to dust ingress and capable of withstanding temporary submersion — a critical feature when used near coolant, cutting fluid, or wash-down conditions. The hardened stainless steel beam and carbide-tipped knife-edge jaws deliver long service life under repeated use. Licensed metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control inspectors are the primary users.
This caliper is suited for precision measurement tasks in manufacturing, machining, toolrooms, and quality assurance applications. It handles outside diameter, inside diameter, depth, and step measurements in a single tool, covering the four most common caliper applications. The knife-edge jaw style makes it well-suited for measuring grooves, recessed features, and irregular profiles where standard flat jaws would produce unreliable contact. The thumb-wheel jaw adjustment allows controlled, repeatable positioning. A depth measurement rod is included for blind-hole and shoulder-depth work. The caliper is powered by a single SR44 silver oxide battery, which is included in the package along with a protective carrying case.
Designed as an OEM-grade precision measuring instrument within the MITUTOYO 500 ABSOLUTE Coolant-Proof series. Compatible with standard SR44 silver oxide replacement batteries available from most electronics and metrology supply sources.
No fixed installation is required. Before use, verify jaw faces are clean and free of debris to ensure accurate contact. Zero the caliper with jaws fully closed before taking measurements. Battery replacement requires a small flat-blade screwdriver to access the battery compartment; handle the SR44 cell with care to avoid contaminating the contacts.
