The MITUTOYO 500-196-32 is a 4-way digital caliper designed for general-purpose dimensional measurement in shop, field, and inspection environments. It measures outside, inside, depth, and step dimensions across a range of 0 to 6 inches (0 to 150 mm) with a resolution of 0.0005 inches (0.01 mm) and an accuracy of +/- 0.0010 inches. The caliper uses an electrostatic capacitance linear encoder and an absolute positioning system, eliminating the need to return to zero after power-off. The stainless steel jaws and body provide durability in light industrial use. A thumb wheel drive allows precise jaw control. The LCD display shows inch or metric readings and switches between the two modes with a single function button.
This caliper is intended for general measurement work where SPC (statistical process control) data output is not required. It is a cost-effective option for technicians, machinists, inspectors, and tradespeople who need accurate hand-tool measurement without automated data logging. Typical applications include part verification, layout work, and incoming inspection in manufacturing, HVAC fabrication, plumbing, and mechanical service environments. The included Certificate of Inspection and carrying case make it suitable for calibrated toolroom use as well.

No installation is required for this hand-held measuring tool. Insert the included SR44 battery before first use and confirm the display reads zero with jaws fully closed, using the Zero or Origin-Set function if needed. Avoid exposing the caliper to coolants or water, as this model is not rated for coolant resistance or IP protection. Store in the included case when not in use to protect the measuring faces and encoder surfaces.
