The MITUTOYO 500-164-30CAL is a digital electronic caliper from the 500 ABSOLUTE Digimatic series, designed for precise dimensional measurement in professional metrology and quality-control applications. It covers a measurement range of 0 to 8 inches with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.0010 inches. The caliper features a hardened stainless steel body, carbide-tipped knife-edge jaws with a jaw length of 2 inches, and an IP67 rating for resistance to coolant and wash-down environments. It ships NIST traceability certified and includes a battery, case, and depth measurement rod. Licensed machinists, QC inspectors, and precision measurement technicians are the primary users.
This caliper is suited for inside diameter, outside diameter, depth, and step measurements in manufacturing, toolroom, and inspection settings. The 8-inch maximum range accommodates a wide variety of workpiece sizes encountered in both job-shop and production environments. The IP67 protection rating makes it a practical choice for machine-side use where cutting fluid and airborne debris are present. The ABSOLUTE Digimatic series retains its last measurement position on power-up, eliminating the need to zero from a reference point after the unit is turned on.
Designed as an OEM-style precision instrument in the MITUTOYO 500 ABSOLUTE Digimatic series. Compatible with standard Digimatic data interfaces; however, this unit does not include a data output port per specifications.
Electronic calipers require no installation in the traditional sense but should be handled by qualified metrology or QC personnel familiar with precision hand tools. Before first use, confirm the battery is seated correctly using the included SR44 silver oxide cell, and verify calibration status against the included NIST certificate. Protect the measuring faces from drops and contact with abrasive surfaces. Store in the included case when not in use to preserve jaw accuracy and protect the electronic components.
