The MITUTOYO 406-350-30 is an electronic outside micrometer designed for precision dimensional measurement in machining, metalworking, and quality-control environments. It measures up to 1.0000 inch with a resolution of 0.000050 inches and an accuracy of 0.000150 inches, making it suited for close-tolerance inspection work. The spindle is non-rotating, which prevents part marking and measurement drift during contact. Measuring faces are carbide tipped for extended wear life. The ratchet stop thimble delivers consistent measuring force across repeated readings. Installed and operated by machinists, metrologists, and precision tradespeople, this unit ships with a plastic case and one SR44 battery installed.
This micrometer is intended for outside diameter and flat-surface measurements in precision manufacturing, tool and die, and inspection settings. The 1-inch maximum range and non-rotating spindle design make it well matched for shaft, pin, and stock measurement tasks where surface finish on the workpiece must be protected. A throat depth of 1.28 inches allows access to stepped or recessed features that a standard micrometer frame cannot reach. The enamel finish on the frame resists shop-floor wear and corrosion from light coolant exposure.
Designed as a direct-use electronic outside micrometer for general precision measurement applications requiring a 0 to 1 inch range with digital readout capability.
Calibrate the micrometer to zero before use by closing the measuring faces and pressing the zero function on the display. Keep the instrument clean and store it in the included plastic case to prevent damage to the measuring faces and electronic components. Battery replacement uses a standard SR44 cell; avoid touching the measuring faces during battery service. Periodic calibration against a certified gauge block is recommended to maintain measurement traceability.
