The MITUTOYO 340-721 is an electronic interchangeable anvil outside micrometer designed for large-diameter precision measurement. It covers a range of 18 to 24 inches and delivers a resolution of 0.0001 inch (0.001 mm) with an accuracy of 0.00016 plus 0.00004 times L divided by 3 inches. The spindle and anvil faces are solid carbide for long wear life under repeated use. A ratchet stop thimble provides consistent measuring force, reducing operator-to-operator variation. Data output capability allows the instrument to connect to SPC collection systems. This micrometer is intended for use by precision machinists and quality control technicians in industrial environments.
The 340-721 is suited for inspection and dimensional verification of large workpieces such as shafts, bores measured via transfer, and large mechanical components. The set includes 6 interchangeable anvils and a fitted wooden case, making it practical for use across a range of discrete step measurements within the 18 to 24 inch span. Its IP65 ingress protection rating makes it viable in shop environments where coolant or particulate exposure is a concern. TUV certification supports use in regulated quality systems.
Designed as an OEM-specification electronic interchangeable anvil micrometer for large-range outside diameter measurement applications in the 18 to 24 inch range.
Setup and use should be performed by a qualified metrologist or precision machinist familiar with large-range micrometer instruments. Before use, allow the instrument to thermally stabilize to the ambient shop temperature to minimize thermal expansion error. When connecting data output to SPC or logging equipment, verify cable and interface compatibility with the receiving system. Store the instrument in its fitted case when not in use to protect the carbide faces and maintain calibration integrity.
