The MITUTOYO 314-351-30 is an electronic V-anvil micrometer designed to measure the minor diameter of 3-flute cutting tools such as end mills, taps, and reamers. It covers a measurement range of 0.05 to 0.6 inches with a resolution of 0.0001 inch and an accuracy of 4 micrometers (0.0002 inch). Both the anvil and spindle are carbide-tipped for durability against tool-steel contact surfaces. A ratchet stop thimble ensures consistent measuring force across repeated readings. Built-in data output allows integration with SPC software or data loggers for in-process quality control. The satin chrome finish reduces glare and corrosion on the shop floor. This instrument is used by machinists and tool-room technicians performing precision inspection.
The 314-351-30 is suited for tool-room inspection and production-floor QC in machine shops, tooling departments, and manufacturing facilities. It measures 3-flute cutting tool geometries that conventional micrometers cannot accurately read due to their flat anvil design. The V-anvil contacts two flute lands simultaneously while the spindle contacts the third, delivering a true minor diameter reading. Applications include inspection of solid carbide end mills, threading taps, and multi-flute rotary cutting tools where precise diameter verification is required before and after grinding operations.

This instrument is used by metrology technicians and machinists and requires no permanent installation. Store the micrometer in its provided case when not in use to protect the carbide contact surfaces and the electronic display. Calibrate against the included setting standard before use and periodically during extended measurement sessions. Power is supplied by one SR44 battery; replace the battery promptly when the low-battery indicator appears to maintain accuracy.
