The MITUTOYO 293-182-40 is a Quantumike electronic outside micrometer designed for high-precision dimensional measurement of external features. It covers a measurement range of 2.0 to 3.0 inches with a resolution of 0.000050 inches and an accuracy of +/-0.00010 inches. The measuring faces are carbide-tipped for extended wear resistance under repeated use. An IP65 rating protects the instrument against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for use in demanding shop environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, QC inspectors, and precision fabricators rely on this class of instrument for exacting work where standard tooling falls short.
The 293-182-40 is suited for precision inspection and production measurement in machine shops, toolrooms, and quality control labs. Its 2.0 to 3.0 inch range targets mid-range shaft diameters, bores, and component stock where tight tolerances are required. The satin chrome finish reduces glare under shop lighting. The ratchet thimble provides consistent measuring force, which is critical for repeatable readings across multiple measurements or operators. The instrument ships with a fitted plastic case, inspection certificate, key wrench, and a CR2032 battery installed.
Designed as a direct-use precision outside micrometer for any application requiring electronic digital readout in the 2.0 to 3.0 inch measurement range.
This instrument requires no installation but should be handled and stored by a qualified metrologist or precision measurement technician. Before use, zero the micrometer at its lower range limit using the supplied key wrench and verify calibration against a known standard if critical tolerances are involved. Store in the supplied fitted case when not in use to protect the measuring faces and electronic components. Do not expose the instrument to immersion or high-pressure wash-down beyond its IP65 rating.
