The MITUTOYO 2910AB-10 is a dial drop indicator designed for precise vertical displacement measurement in machining, metrology, and quality-control applications. It delivers a measuring range of 0.008 inches with a graduation of 0.0001 inches per division, providing the resolution required for tight-tolerance inspection work. The 4-0-4 dial reading format allows the technician to read both positive and negative deflection from a balanced zero center. A flat back and 3/8-inch stem make this indicator straightforward to mount in standard indicator holders and magnetic bases. Jeweled bearings and a shockproof construction help maintain accuracy over repeated use in a shop environment.
This indicator suits residential and commercial precision measurement tasks including surface flatness checks, runout inspection, spindle alignment, fixture verification, and incoming-part inspection on the shop floor. It is appropriate for machinists, toolmakers, quality technicians, and metrologists working with manual or CNC machine setups. The compact overall length of 3.94 inches keeps it manageable in confined fixturing situations. The white dial face with 4-0-4 graduations provides clear readability under typical shop lighting.
Designed as an OEM-style drop indicator compatible with standard AGD Group 0 indicator holders, magnetic base arms, and fixtures that accept a 3/8-inch stem diameter.
Mounting and removal should be performed with the measuring machine or fixture powered down and all moving axes at rest. Secure the 3/8-inch stem firmly in the indicator holder to prevent slippage during measurement without overtightening, which can distort the stem. Verify the stylus contact point is appropriate for the workpiece surface material and finish before applying measuring force. This indicator should be calibrated against a known reference standard per ANSI/AGD procedures before first use and periodically thereafter.
