The MITUTOYO 2776A is a dial drop indicator designed for precision dimensional measurement in machining, inspection, and metrology applications. It delivers a 1 inch total measurement range with a dial graduation of 0.0005 inches, giving technicians fine resolution for surface variation, runout, and alignment checks. Each revolution of the spindle covers 0.05 inches, and a built-in revolution counter tracks cumulative travel across the full range. Accuracy is rated at 0.002 inches per ANSI/AGD standards. The white dial face reads 0 to 50, and the 2-3/16 inch diameter dial provides clear readability in shop environments. A lug back mount allows secure fixture to standard indicator holders and magnetic base arms.
This indicator is suited for use in precision machine shops, quality control labs, tool and die operations, and production inspection lines. It is commonly used by machinists, metrologists, and quality technicians to verify flatness, parallelism, concentricity, and part-to-part consistency. The drop-style spindle configuration makes it well-suited for vertical measurement setups where the spindle travels downward onto the workpiece surface. The 0.375 inch stem diameter fits standard indicator holders.
Designed as an OEM-style drop indicator fitting standard 0.375 inch stem diameter indicator holders, magnetic bases, and lug-back mounting fixtures used in general precision measurement setups.
Installation is performed by machinists or metrologists using a compatible indicator holder or magnetic base arm. Secure the lug back to the mounting fixture before applying contact force to the workpiece. Verify the spindle moves freely through its full travel range prior to zeroing. Measuring force is 1.80 N — do not exceed rated contact force by forcing the spindle beyond its designed travel limit.
