The MITUTOYO 2358A-10 is a precision dial drop indicator designed for high-accuracy dimensional measurement in machining, toolmaking, and metrology applications. It delivers a 0.5 inch total measurement range with a fine graduation of 0.0001 inches per division and an overall accuracy of 0.0008 inches. The indicator uses a jeweled bearing mechanism for consistent, low-friction stylus travel and reads 0 to 10 on a white dial face with a 2-9/32 inch diameter. A built-in revolution counter tracks cumulative travel across the full range. This tool is installed and used by machinists, quality control technicians, and tool-and-die professionals.
The 2358A-10 is suited for use on surface plates, magnetic bases, indicator holders, and inspection fixtures in both job-shop and production environments. The lug back mounting style allows attachment to standard indicator holders and arms. With 0.01 inches of travel per spindle revolution, it is well matched to close-tolerance inspection tasks such as runout checks, flatness verification, part alignment, and machine tool setup. The stem diameter of 0.375 inches fits standard collet-style holders common in industrial inspection setups.
Designed as an AGD Group 2 drop indicator compatible with standard lug back indicator holders, magnetic bases, and surface plate inspection setups per ANSI/AGD specifications.
Dial drop indicators are mounted and adjusted by machinists or quality technicians — no special trade license is required, but familiarity with precision measurement practice is expected. Secure the lug back to the indicator holder before bringing the stem into contact with the workpiece to avoid impact damage to the jeweled bearing. Do not exceed the rated measurement range, and avoid side-loading the stem during travel. Store the indicator with the spindle in the retracted position to protect the contact point and internal mechanism.
