The MITUTOYO 201-152 is a snap gage designed for fast, repeatable outside-dimension measurements on production floors and in machine shops. The frame is constructed from steel for rigidity, and the anvils are solid carbide for long-lasting wear resistance during high-cycle inspection work. A dial display provides direct-reading measurement output. The indicator is not included with the gage body, so a compatible dial indicator must be sourced separately before the unit can be placed in service. This gage is intended for use by machinists, quality control technicians, and metrology professionals.
Snap gages of this type are used in dimensional inspection of shafts, pins, and other cylindrical or flat workpieces where a go/no-go or variable measurement is needed quickly. The 201-152 is suited for inline production inspection and receiving inspection in manufacturing environments. Its solid carbide anvils make it particularly appropriate for high-volume applications where anvil wear would compromise measurement accuracy on softer-material gage faces.
Designed as an OEM-style snap gage body intended for use with a separately sourced compatible dial indicator; consult MITUTOYO documentation for indicator compatibility and gage setting standards appropriate to the measurement range of this unit.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or metrology technician familiar with snap gage procedure. Before mounting the indicator, inspect the anvil faces and frame for damage. Set the gage using a calibrated master ring or setting disk appropriate to the nominal size being inspected. Do not force workpieces through the gage; allow the anvils to contact the work with controlled, consistent hand pressure to avoid anvil damage and measurement error.
