The MITUTOYO 114-163 is a mechanical V anvil micrometer designed to measure the diameter of 3-flute cutting tools such as end mills, reamers, and drills. It covers a measurement range of 0.05 to 0.6 inches with a graduation of 0.001 inch and an accuracy rating of 0.0002 inch. The V-shaped anvil cradles the cutting tool at two contact points while the spindle contacts the third flute, enabling accurate outer diameter readings on 3-flute geometry. A ratchet stop thimble provides consistent measuring force to reduce operator-to-operator variation. Both the anvil and spindle are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. The instrument carries a satin chrome finish and weighs approximately 1 pound.
This micrometer is suited for use in machine shops, tool rooms, and manufacturing environments where 3-flute cutting tool verification is part of routine quality control or incoming inspection. It is typically used by machinists, tool grinders, and metrology technicians. The 6.35 mm spindle diameter and 23.46 mm throat depth support access to standard-sized tooling without interference. The instrument is read mechanically with no battery or electronics required, making it reliable in environments where electronic gages are impractical.
Designed for measuring the outer diameter of 3-flute cutting tools including end mills, reamers, and similar 3-flute geometry tools within the 0.05 to 0.6 inch diameter range.
This is a hand-held precision measuring instrument and does not require installation. Handle with care to preserve calibration — avoid dropping or storing in contact with abrasive materials. Clean contact faces before use and verify the zero setting against a known standard before taking measurements. Calibration should be performed by a qualified metrologist or in accordance with your facility quality management procedures.
