The MITUTOYO 112-226 is a mechanical point micrometer designed for precision measurement of grooves, steps, keyways, and similar features that standard anvil micrometers cannot reach. It covers a measurement range of 1 to 2 inches with a resolution of 0.00005 inches and an accuracy of 0.00015 inches. The 30-degree point angle on both the spindle and anvil allows access into tight geometries, while the ratchet stop mechanism delivers consistent measuring force with every reading. The satin chrome finish resists corrosion and reduces glare under shop lighting. This tool is suited for machinists, toolmakers, and quality control technicians working to close tolerances in precision manufacturing environments.
The 112-226 is built for measuring features where a standard flat anvil cannot seat properly, including narrow grooves, raised steps, and recessed profiles on machined parts. The 49mm throat depth provides clearance for workpieces of moderate size. With a head diameter of 18mm and a spindle diameter of 6.35mm, the instrument fits into confined measurement locations. An included SR44 battery supports any integrated digital readout or backlighting function. This micrometer is a practical bench and floor tool in job shops, tool rooms, and inspection departments handling precision turned or milled components.
Designed as an OEM-style precision measurement tool suitable for use in any application requiring point-contact micrometry in the 1 to 2 inch range, including groove width, step height, and similar confined-feature measurement tasks.
Point micrometers are handled and calibrated by qualified metrology or machining personnel. Before use, clean the measuring faces and verify the zero setting against a known standard or gauge block. Protect the hardened steel points from impact and avoid dropping the instrument, as point damage will affect accuracy. Periodic calibration against traceable standards is recommended to maintain measurement integrity.
