The MITUTOYO 102824 is a ball-style contact point designed for use with dial test indicators. The tip is a 1 mm diameter steel ball mounted on a contact point with an overall length of 8.5 mm (approximately 0.335 inches). This contact point threads into the indicator spindle and serves as the precision measuring interface between the indicator and the workpiece surface. It is used by machinists, metrologists, and tool-room technicians to take accurate dimensional measurements, runout readings, and surface deviation checks on machined parts.
This contact point is suited to applications where a small, hard ball tip is needed to trace curved surfaces, bores, or tight features on a workpiece. The compact 1 mm ball diameter allows contact in recessed areas and on small-radius geometry that a flat or pointed tip would not seat against correctly. The steel construction provides durability under normal shop measurement cycles. It is a direct replacement or spare accessory for indicators used in quality control, machine setup, and inspection work.
Designed for use with Mitutoyo 513 Series Dial Test Indicators, as specified by the manufacturer.
Contact point replacement is typically performed by machinists or metrology technicians using standard indicator accessories. Before swapping contact points, remove the indicator from any active measurement setup to avoid accidental spindle damage. Thread the contact point in by hand until snug, taking care not to overtighten, which can damage the spindle threads or alter calibration. After installation, verify indicator zero and stylus travel before returning the instrument to service.
