The 101204 is suited for use with AGD Group 1, 2, 3, and 4 dial gages, covering the most common indicator sizes found in production and inspection environments. It is appropriate for bench setups, surface plate work, fixture-mounted inspection, and machine tool applications where a drop indicator is used to verify part geometry, runout, or surface deviation. The spherical contact geometry makes it a practical choice when measuring curved or irregular surfaces where a flat or pointed tip would introduce cosine error or inconsistent seating.

Installation is performed by hand-threading the contact point into the indicator spindle; avoid over-tightening, which can damage the fine 4-48 thread. Before replacing a contact point, remove the indicator from any active fixture or gage stand to prevent accidental spindle damage. Use only contact points with the correct thread specification for the indicator model to maintain calibration integrity. If the indicator is used in a certified measurement process, re-verify the instrument calibration after any contact point change.
