The MITUTOYO 101186 is a shell-style contact point designed for drop indicators used in precision measurement applications. Machined from solid carbide, it offers the wear resistance required for repetitive gauging work on hard or abrasive surfaces. The contact point measures 0.75 inches in length with a 0.1969 inches (5.00 mm) diameter tip and threads onto the indicator spindle via a 4-48 thread. It is installed by metrology technicians, machine operators, and quality control professionals who require consistent, repeatable surface contact during inspection routines.
This contact point is suited for use in manufacturing, machine shop, and quality assurance environments where drop indicators are mounted to comparator stands, transfer fixtures, or surface plates. Its shell construction provides positive seating on the indicator spindle and maintains accurate tip positioning throughout repeated measurement cycles. Compatible with AGD Group 1, 2, 3, and 4 dial indicators, it fits the broad range of standard drop-style gauges found in most inspection departments.
Designed for use with AGD Group 1, 2, 3, and 4 drop-style dial indicators. Dial gages are suitable for mounting configurations using this contact point.
Installation is performed by metrology technicians or qualified machine operators. Before replacing a contact point, remove the indicator from any mounted fixture and ensure the spindle is fully retracted to avoid thread damage during changeover. Thread the shell contact point onto the 4-48 spindle by hand until snug, using a small spanner or contact point wrench if the manufacturer specifies tool tightening. Avoid cross-threading or over-torquing, which can damage the carbide tip or spindle threads.
