The MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC suz-aa18nlhz-u1 is an 18,000 BTU/h variable-speed outdoor heat pump unit designed for split-system and multi-zone configurations using R-454B refrigerant. It uses Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) technology to deliver 100% rated heating capacity down to 5 degrees F and guaranteed heating performance down to -13 degrees F. Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) technology regulates compressor power supply for precise capacity control and reduced energy draw. A licensed HVAC technician handles installation and commissioning, including refrigerant line set connection and low-voltage control wiring.
This outdoor unit is suited for residential and light-commercial ductless and ducted split-system applications where cold-climate performance is a primary requirement. Blue Fin coating on the heat exchanger fins provides corrosion resistance in coastal and industrial environments where salt, sulfur, and airborne contaminants accelerate fin degradation. The unit powers the indoor air handler directly from the outdoor unit, and automatic restart resumes operation after a power outage without manual intervention. Hot-Start Technology holds the indoor fan off until the heat exchanger reaches operating temperature, eliminating cold air discharge at startup.
Designed as an OEM outdoor unit for Mitsubishi Electric ductless and ducted split-system configurations; confirm indoor unit compatibility with Mitsubishi Electric engineering documentation before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding an EPA Section 608 certification for R-454B refrigerant handling. Power down all circuits at the disconnect and breaker panel before making any electrical or refrigerant connections. Follow NEC requirements for dedicated circuit sizing, disconnect placement, and equipment grounding. Locate and level the outdoor unit on a solid pad, ensure adequate clearance on all sides per manufacturer installation manual, and complete a standing pressure test on the line set before introducing refrigerant.
