The MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC mxz-sm42nlhz-u1 is a 42,000 BTU/h inverter-driven multi-zone hyper heat outdoor condensing unit designed for variable-capacity heating and cooling across multiple zones. The unit operates on R454B refrigerant and uses an inverter-driven compressor to modulate capacity precisely, maintaining set points without the energy loss of single-stage cycling. Built-in protections include compressor overcurrent detection, thermal protection, high pressure protection, and fan motor overheating and voltage protection. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit as the outdoor component of a ductless or ducted split system serving residential or light commercial applications.
This outdoor unit is engineered for multi-zone configurations and is compatible with M-Series and P-Series indoor units as well as CITY MULTI indoor units. A branch box is required when connecting M-Series or P-Series indoor units. The unit is rated for coastal environments, with seacoast protection applied to the heat exchanger and base panel, tested for 2,000 hours in accordance with ASTM B117 salt spray standards. Its hyper heat capability supports reliable heating performance at low ambient outdoor temperatures, making it well suited for cold-climate installations in both residential and light commercial buildings.
Compatible with M-Series and P-Series indoor units and CITY MULTI indoor units. A branch box is required for connection with M-Series and P-Series indoor units.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle refrigerants under EPA Section 608 regulations. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before making any electrical or refrigerant connections. Follow local mechanical and electrical codes, including applicable sections of the NEC, for wiring, disconnect sizing, and equipment clearances. Do not operate the unit until refrigerant lines are leak-tested, evacuated, and charged per the manufacturer's specifications.
