The MITSUBISHI 905889 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 6 mm cutting diameter with a 0.30 mm corner radius, six flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The tool carries an AlTiSiN (aluminum titanium silicon nitride) PVD coating, which improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting hardened steel and other ferrous materials. At 50 mm overall length with a 6 mm length of cut, this is a short-length tool suited for rigid setups where minimizing deflection is a priority. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is built for roughing and finishing operations on steel and hardened steel workpieces. Its single-end, right-hand cutting configuration fits standard CNC milling machines and machining centers using straight cylindrical toolholders. The 6 mm straight shank with h6 tolerance ensures a precise fit in collet-style and shrink-fit holders. The 5.85 mm neck diameter provides slight clearance behind the cutting zone to reduce rubbing during deep-pocket passes. It is well matched to high-speed finishing passes on hardened tooling steel, mold cavities, and die components where corner integrity is critical.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers accepting 6 mm straight cylindrical shank end mills. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hardened steel.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended gauge line before tightening. Verify runout at the cutting diameter with a dial indicator before beginning a new operation, particularly in tight-tolerance finishing applications.
