The MITSUBISHI 663197 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built to MVS Series specifications, it features a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle with X-Thinning geometry, and a TiAlN coating that extends tool life when cutting through hard and abrasive materials. The helical flute design promotes chip evacuation, while the coolant-through construction allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone. This bit is intended for use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working with precision drilling operations in metalworking environments.
The 663197 is suited for cross hole drilling, stack drilling, and standard through-hole drilling applications where extended reach is required beyond what a jobber-length bit can provide. Its 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper bore depths with a maximum drilling depth of 2.0470 inches. The cylindrical shank measures 0.315 inches in diameter and 2.0870 inches in length, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and tool holders used in CNC machining centers and drill presses. Primary workpiece materials include steel and hardened steel, with secondary compatibility covering stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, carbon steel, tempered steel, structural steel, and copper.
Compatible with cross hole, stack drilling, and standard drilling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, and carbon steel. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with collet chucks or tool holders accepting a 0.315 inch cylindrical shank.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the bit from the tool holder. Verify collet or chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance before use to prevent premature tool wear or breakage. Activate coolant supply before engaging the cut when using the coolant-through feature.
