The MITSUBISHI 662291 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Measuring 0.1250 inches (1/8 inch) in diameter with a 2.1880-inch overall length and a 0.7320-inch flute length, this bit is built for reaching depth where standard-length drills fall short. The TiAlN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in high-speed cutting environments. A 140-degree split point with X-thinning reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. The two-flute helical design promotes chip evacuation in interrupted and stacked workpieces. Installed by machinists and tool-room technicians, this bit suits CNC and manual drilling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
The 662291 is rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, hardened steel, tempered steel, nickel alloys, superalloys, titanium, copper, brass, bronze, and high-strength bronze. Its MVE series designation places it in a high-performance, high-precision product family engineered for cross-hole drilling, through drilling, and stack drilling applications. The cylindrical shank measures 0.236 inches in diameter and 1.3390 inches in length, fitting standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. Maximum drilling depth is rated at 0.2740 inches, consistent with its 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines with standard collet or drill chuck toolholding. Suitable for cross-hole, through-hole, and stack drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hardened steel, tempered steel, nickel alloys, superalloys, titanium, copper, brass, bronze, and cast iron per the MVE series application rating.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured and the machine is at a complete stop before changing tooling. Carbide drill bits are brittle and sensitive to side loading — avoid lateral force during entry and retraction. Verify spindle RPM and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before initiating a cut.
