The MITSUBISHI 617609 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including stainless steel, titanium alloy, heat-resistant alloy, and steel. It features a 5 mm cutting diameter with a 0.30 mm corner radius and four flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral configuration. The AlCrN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating provides elevated heat and wear resistance during aggressive cutting cycles. At 50 mm overall length with a 13 mm length of cut, this tool is well-suited for both roughing and finishing operations where tool life and surface integrity are critical. Machinists and tooling specialists specify this end mill for its variable index and variable helix geometry, which reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation.
This end mill is applied in CNC machining centers handling stainless steel, titanium alloy, heat-resistant alloy, alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, copper alloy, and non-ferrous metals. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collet and shrink-fit toolholders. Single-end construction makes it a direct drop-in for precision finishing passes and contour milling in aerospace, medical, and general metalworking shops. No coolant-through capability means it is best run with external flood or mist coolant.
Designed for use in standard CNC milling applications requiring a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, titanium alloy, and steel; secondary application includes non-ferrous metals, cast iron, and copper alloy.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Seat the straight shank fully into the collet or shrink-fit holder and verify runout before engaging the spindle. Confirm spindle direction is right-hand before initiating a cut. Because this tool is not coolant-through, apply external flood or mist coolant directed at the cutting zone to manage chip load and heat buildup.
