The MITSUBISHI 109166 is a WNMG432 indexable carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ISO designation WNMG080402 and is manufactured in grade US735 with a CVD coating. The insert features a trigon W-shape with an 80-degree included angle, a 0 degree relief angle (negative side clearance), and a 0.80 mm (1/32 inch) corner radius. With six available cutting edges, this insert delivers consistent performance in medium machining operations on stainless steel and other ISO M-class workpiece materials. It is intended for installation and use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for medium machining of stainless steel and ISO M-class materials where a balance of wear resistance and toughness is required. The MS chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate cutting conditions on austenitic and other stainless alloys. It fits standard WNMG-style toolholders with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and is appropriate for both roughing passes and semi-finish turning where controlled chip breaking is a priority. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour operations on stainless components in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard WNMG432 indexable insert seats. Compatible with any WNMG-style toolholder accepting a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick insert with a negative clearance (N) and medium tolerance (M) seat. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
WNMG turning inserts are installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the insert clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before seating a new insert edge.
