The MITSUBISHI 10555279 is a carbide extra length drill bit designed for demanding precision drilling applications in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built to MVS Series standards, it features a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in high-heat, high-speed operations. The drill point is ground to 140 degrees with X-Thinning geometry, which reduces thrust force and improves centering on entry. At 4.5118 inches overall length with a 2.5039-inch flute length and a 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit reaches depths that standard-length drills cannot. It is sold individually and installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drill press setups.
This drill bit is rated for deep hole drilling, cross hole drilling, stack drilling, and general drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. It is suited for use in production machining, aerospace component fabrication, and structural steel work where extended reach and hole quality are critical. The right-hand helical flute promotes efficient chip evacuation in continuous cuts. Coolant-through capability supports through-spindle coolant delivery for deep hole operations where chip clearance and heat management are priorities.
Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, tempered steel, hardened steel, cast iron, carbon steel, structural steel, iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high-strength bronze, and copper workpieces. Conforms to ISO specification designation. Designed for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with through-spindle or external coolant systems.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Secure the cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the depth recommended by the machine manufacturer to avoid runout. Verify coolant flow path is clear before engaging through-spindle coolant. Follow shop-floor speeds and feeds guidance appropriate for the workpiece material and machine capability.
