The MITSUBISHI 101852 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from CVD-coated carbide in manufacturer grade US735, this insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel. It features a rhombic 55-degree insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0-degree rake angle, and a corner radius of 0.80 mm (0.0315 inches). The MS chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in demanding turning applications. With four cutting edges per insert, this negative-rake insert delivers consistent tool life and dimensional accuracy across production runs.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning operations where stainless steel is the primary workpiece material. It performs in both light finishing and moderate roughing passes where chip control and surface finish are critical. The CVD coating process provides a hard, wear-resistant surface layer that withstands the heat and built-up edge tendencies common when machining austenitic and ferritic stainless grades. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for DNMG-compatible toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick rhombic 55-degree negative-rake inserts per ANSI and ISO DNMG designations.
DNMG turning inserts are seated and clamped by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
