The MITEK 55ea06g is a 6-inch ceiling radiation damper designed to prevent the spread of fire through ceiling assemblies in HVAC duct systems. Part of the 55 Series, this damper features an Easy Access Link attachment, making it suitable for 5-inch diameter and larger installations. The unit is constructed from 22-gauge galvanized steel using a one-piece rollformed frame for durability and consistent fit. A standard 165 degrees F fusible link is included, with a 212 degrees F fusible link available as an option. UL Classified for use in non-combustible installations rated 3 hours or less, this damper meets the demands of code-compliant commercial and residential ceiling assemblies.
The 55ea06g is intended for ceiling radiation damper applications where a duct or air outlet penetrates a fire-rated ceiling assembly. The Easy Access Link design is standard on 5-inch diameter and larger units, while standard link attachment is used on 4-inch diameter units. For units with blade areas greater than 84 square inches, a ceramic thermal blanket is provided to ensure proper fire-rating performance. This damper is available in sizes ranging from 5 to 24 inches in the Easy Access Link configuration and 4 to 24 inches in the standard link configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation ceiling radiation damper for use in UL Classified non-combustible ceiling assemblies rated 3 hours or less, as part of the MITEK 55 Series product line.
Ceiling radiation dampers are installed by licensed HVAC or sheet metal contractors and must comply with applicable local building and fire codes, including NFPA 90A requirements. Always shut down the HVAC system and de-energize associated electrical components before beginning installation or service. Verify the ceiling assembly fire-resistance rating and confirm the damper size and link temperature rating match the design specifications before installation. Do not substitute fusible link ratings without reviewing the project engineering documents and applicable code authority requirements.
