The MITEK 50ea1612g is a rectangular ceiling radiation damper (CRD) designed for use in non-combustible ceiling assemblies requiring a 3-hour or less fire-resistance rating. Built to UL 555C classification standards, it features a one-piece roll-formed frame and blades constructed from 22-gauge galvanized steel. The standard configuration includes a 165 degrees F fusible link with an Easy Access (EA) attachment for simplified inspection and link replacement. A ceramic thermal blanket is factory-installed on units with a blade area greater than 84 square inches, ensuring compliant thermal performance in rated ceiling assemblies. Licensed HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors install this damper as a required component in fire-rated ceiling systems.
The 50ea1612g is sized at 16 inches x 12 inches and is intended for installation in non-combustible ceiling assemblies where air distribution penetrations require a fire-rated closure. It suits commercial and residential HVAC systems where the mechanical design requires ceiling radiation damper protection at supply or return grille locations in rated floor-ceiling or roof-ceiling assemblies. An optional 212 degrees F rated fusible link or Standard Link Attachment (SL) configuration is available for applications requiring alternative activation temperatures or mounting methods.
Designed as an OEM-style ceiling radiation damper for use in non-combustible, fire-rated ceiling assemblies requiring UL 555C compliance at a 3-hour rating or less.
Installation must be performed by a qualified mechanical contractor or licensed HVAC technician in accordance with the International Mechanical Code (IMC) and applicable local fire codes. Power down and lock out the air handling system before beginning damper installation or fusible link service. The Easy Access fusible link design allows for periodic inspection without full damper removal, which is required by most authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) inspection schedules. Do not block or restrict the fusible link mechanism, and verify correct link temperature rating for the installation environment before closing the ceiling assembly.
