The MITEE-BITE 38850 is a stainless steel internal-diameter (ID) expansion clamp designed to hold workpieces by expanding outward against the bore wall rather than clamping from the outside. Rated at 1,900 pounds of holding force, it accommodates bore diameters from 0.4724 inches minimum to a maximum expansion diameter of 0.0256 inches above nominal. The clamp is actuated by an M6x1.0 center screw and seats into a 0.625-inch mount hole using a single mounting point. It is installed by machinists and tooling specialists on CNC fixtures, jigs, and workholding setups where external clamping is impractical or would obstruct machining access.
The 38850 is suited for precision bore workholding and bushing installation applications in machine shops and manufacturing environments. It is used in situations where a consistent, repeatable grip on an internal bore diameter is required, such as lathe chuck substitution, modular fixture plates, and inline part-transfer systems. The single mount hole configuration keeps the footprint compact for tight fixture layouts.
Designed for use in fixture and workholding setups requiring internal bore expansion clamping with a 0.625-inch mount hole and M6x1.0 center screw actuation.
Installation is performed by qualified tooling or machining personnel. Power down and lock out all machine motion before installing or adjusting expansion clamps on a fixture. Ensure the mount hole diameter matches the 0.625-inch specification before seating the clamp. Tighten the M6x1.0 center screw gradually and evenly to achieve full expansion contact against the bore wall without overloading the clamp body.
