The MILWAUKEE TOOL 49-57-5330 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners and threaded rod. Part of the Hex-LOK series, this die cuts right-hand threads to the 12-24 UNC standard. The 1.0-inch hex body seats securely in a standard hex-drive holder or wrench, keeping the die properly aligned during use. Constructed from carbon steel, it holds an edge through repeated rethreading passes on common fastener materials. At 0.07 pounds, it is a lightweight addition to a service kit used by electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general mechanical tradespeople who encounter thread damage in the field.
This die is suited for restoring 12-24 UNC external threads on machine screws, bolts, and threaded studs in both residential and light commercial service work. The 12-24 thread size is common in electrical enclosure hardware, panel fasteners, and equipment mounting applications. The right-hand thread direction matches the standard orientation used across the vast majority of mechanical and electrical fastening applications. It is sold individually and is intended as a single-use or replacement component within a larger rethreading or tap-and-die set.
Designed for use with hex-drive rethreading die holders that accept a 1.0-inch hex body. Intended for rethreading 12-24 UNC external threads on standard fasteners and threaded components.
A licensed or qualified tradesperson should de-energize and lock out any equipment before rethreading fasteners on electrical or mechanical assemblies. Seat the die squarely on the damaged thread before applying torque to avoid cross-threading. Light cutting oil applied to the die and workpiece improves thread quality and extends die life. Inspect the restored thread with a mating nut after rethreading to confirm proper fit before returning equipment to service.
