The MILWAUKEE TOOL 49-57-5319 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded metric threads on fasteners and threaded rod. Part of the Hex-LOK series, it cuts an M4x0.7 metric coarse thread profile in the right-hand direction. The die is machined from carbon steel for reliable hardness and wear resistance. With a 1-inch hex body and a 0.5-inch thickness, this die seats securely in a standard hex die stock or wrench, giving technicians positive control during rethreading operations. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance mechanics use this die as a field repair tool when bolt or stud threads are too damaged to accept a nut or coupling.
This die is suited for light-duty metric rethreading tasks on M4 fasteners commonly found in equipment panels, conduit fittings, small pipe connections, and mechanical assemblies. It is a non-adjustable, fixed-profile die, meaning it cuts to a single standardized thread form without setup adjustment. Rethreading dies are typically used by licensed tradespeople during maintenance and repair work. Before rethreading any fastener on electrical, plumbing, or HVAC equipment, de-energize the system and follow all applicable lockout/tagout procedures per OSHA and NEC guidelines. Seat the die squarely on the damaged thread and apply cutting oil to reduce friction and extend die life. Do not force the die past resistance, as this can further damage the fastener or chip the die.
