The MILWAUKEE TOOL 48-20-8071 is a carbide-tipped rotary hammer drill bit designed for use with SDS-Plus rotary hammers. It features a 14mm diameter, a spear cutting shape optimized for penetrating masonry and concrete, and a high-speed steel body with a carbide-tipped cutting edge. The usable flute length of 260mm allows for deep anchor holes and through-penetrations in block, brick, and poured concrete. At 310mm overall length and 0.39 pounds, it is a manageable single-bit tool for both overhead and horizontal drilling. Licensed electricians, plumbers, HVAC installers, and general trade contractors routinely use SDS-Plus bits like this one when setting anchors or running penetrations through masonry construction.
This bit is suited for residential and light commercial applications where SDS-Plus rotary hammers are the standard tool of choice. Typical use cases include setting anchor bolts, drilling conduit and pipe penetrations through concrete block or poured walls, and boring holes for HVAC equipment pads or mounting hardware. The 14mm diameter accommodates common anchor sleeve sizes used in mechanical and electrical rough-in work.
Designed for use with SDS-Plus rotary hammers. The SDS-Plus shank is an industry-standard interface accepted by SDS-Plus chucks across major rotary hammer platforms used in trade applications.
SDS-Plus rotary hammer drill bits should be installed and removed only when the tool is unpowered and the chuck is fully released. Wear appropriate eye and respiratory protection when drilling masonry, as silica dust is a recognized health hazard subject to OSHA exposure limits. Inspect the carbide tip before each use and do not operate a bit with a chipped or loose cutting insert. Drilling speed and hammer mode should be matched to the base material per the tool manufacturer guidance.
