The MILWAUKEE TOOL 2585-22CX is a cordless 6-inch random orbital sander powered by the M12 battery platform. It delivers up to 12,000 orbits per minute with a 0.1875-inch orbit diameter, giving finishing trades consistent material removal and surface preparation on a compact, lightweight tool. The kit ships complete with two M12 REDLITHIUM HIGH OUTPUT batteries and a charger, so installers can move between tasks without a power outlet nearby. At 6.17 pounds for the kit package, the tool itself remains easy to handle overhead or in tight spaces. Suitable for finish carpenters, cabinet installers, painters, and general construction trades who need a portable sanding solution.
The 2585-22CX is built for residential and light commercial finishing work where cordless mobility matters. It accepts both hook-and-loop and PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) 6-inch sanding discs, covering a wide range of abrasive options already common in finishing kits. The included firm PSA backing pad and hook-and-loop backing pad ship in the box, so the tool is ready to run with whichever disc type the installer prefers. Typical applications include wood surface prep, drywall feathering, paint prep, and finish sanding on cabinetry or millwork.
Designed for use with Milwaukee M12 REDLITHIUM battery packs. Kit includes HIGH OUTPUT CP2.5 battery pack (48-11-2425) and HIGH OUTPUT XC5.0 battery pack (48-11-2450). Compatible with standard 6-inch hook-and-loop and PSA sanding discs.
Remove or discharge the battery pack before changing backing pads or sanding discs. Ensure the disc is fully seated and secured before powering the tool on. Follow applicable OSHA and job-site safety requirements for personal protective equipment including eye and respiratory protection when sanding. Inspect the backing pad for wear or damage before each use and replace if the hook-and-loop surface no longer holds discs securely.
