The Milwaukee Elec Tool 48-27-0371 is a flat boring bit designed for fast, clean hole drilling in wood, plastic, plywood, and Formica. Built from heat-treated high carbon steel, it carries a drill point and cutting edges that can be resharpened to extend service life and reduce replacement costs. The bit measures 3/8 inch in diameter and 6 inches in length, with a 3/16-inch shank diameter sized for standard drill chucks. It is suited for residential and light commercial carpentry, electrical rough-in, plumbing rough-in, and general construction tasks where precise, clean-entry holes are required at various angles.
This flat boring bit is used in wood-frame construction, finish carpentry, and fixture installation where controlled hole diameters matter. It performs in wood studs, sheet goods, plastic panels, and laminate surfaces such as Formica. When greater drilling depth is needed, the bit is compatible with a 12-inch extension, allowing techs and tradespeople to reach through deeper assemblies without repositioning. The 3/16-inch shank fits standard 3/8-inch and larger drill chucks commonly used in the field. It is sold as a package of 6 units, making it practical for stocking a service vehicle or tool crib.
Designed for use with standard drills accepting a 3/16-inch shank. Compatible with a 12-inch boring bit extension for increased drilling depth in deep assemblies.
Installation of this bit is performed by carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and general contractors during rough-in and finish work. Secure the 3/16-inch shank firmly in the drill chuck before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or otherwise stabilized. When using an extension, verify the connection between the bit and extension is tight before drilling. Follow applicable worksite safety requirements and wear appropriate eye protection when boring through laminate or composite materials.
