The MILWAUKEE 86733 is a Thermomelt temperature indicating stick used to measure surface temperatures quickly and accurately without electronic instruments. The stick leaves a dull, chalky mark on the surface; when the target temperature is reached, the mark melts and transitions to a glossy, transparent liquid state. This visual change gives technicians, welders, and fabricators a clear, immediate confirmation that the workpiece has reached the rated temperature. The 86733 is rated to a maximum temperature of 400 degrees F and carries an accuracy of plus or minus 1 percent of the rated Fahrenheit temperature. The stick features a larger, reinforced body design for extended service life compared to earlier generations.
This temperature indicating stick is suited for metal fabrication and heat-treating applications including annealing, forging, welding, bending, and forming operations. Any process requiring confirmation of surface temperature before or during heat application is a typical use case. The stick is well suited for job-site and shop use where thermocouple probes or infrared thermometers are impractical or unavailable. It is commonly used by welders, pipefitters, boilermakers, and metal fabricators working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use on metal surfaces requiring surface temperature verification during heat-treating, welding, and fabrication processes. No electronic equipment or power source required.
Temperature indicating sticks are a consumable marking tool and do not require installation. Apply the stick mark to the workpiece surface before or during heating. Allow the mark to be observed at a safe distance as temperatures rise. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and PPE requirements when working near open flame, induction heating, or hot workpieces.
