The MILWAUKEE 86562 is a Thermomelt temperature indicating stick rated to a maximum of 250 degrees F. It provides a fast, low-cost method for verifying surface temperatures without electronic instruments. When applied to a surface, the initial mark appears dull and chalky. Once the rated temperature is reached, the mark melts to a glossy, transparent liquid — giving an immediate visual confirmation. Accuracy is within plus or minus 1% of the Fahrenheit rated temperature and within plus or minus 3% of the Celsius rated temperature. The 86562 features a larger, stronger stick design compared to earlier versions, contributing to extended service life in demanding field use.
This temperature indicating stick is suited for metalworking and fabrication trades where surface temperature monitoring is required. Typical applications include annealing, forging, welding, bending, and forming operations. It is also used wherever a quick, disposable temperature check is needed on metal surfaces during heat treatment or process work. The stick format requires no calibration and no power source, making it practical for both shop and field environments.
Designed for use on metal surfaces in metalworking, fabrication, and heat treatment applications where a disposable, single-temperature indicator stick is appropriate.
Temperature indicating sticks are applied directly to the workpiece surface by hand. Allow the surface to stabilize at the expected process temperature before applying the stick for the most accurate reading. Keep sticks away from open flame contact, as direct flame exposure will cause a melt response independent of true surface temperature. Store in a cool, dry location away from heat sources to prevent pre-activation.
