The MILWAUKEE 86517 is a Thermomelt temperature-indicating stick designed for fast, accurate surface temperature measurement in trade and industrial environments. When applied to a surface, the mark appears dull and chalky at lower temperatures. Once the surface reaches the rated maximum of 200 degrees F, the mark melts rapidly to a glossy, transparent liquid, giving a clear, immediate visual confirmation. Accuracy is within plus or minus 1% of the Fahrenheit rated temperature and plus or minus 3% of the Celsius rated temperature. The stick is manufactured in the USA and is sold individually.
The 86517 is suited for trades and industrial processes where surface temperature verification is critical. Common applications include annealing, forging, welding, bending, and metal forming operations. It is also appropriate for any inspection or quality-control workflow where a fast, low-cost temperature check is needed before or during a heat-related process. The single-use, no-power format makes it practical in field environments where electronic instruments may not be accessible or appropriate.
Designed for use on metal and industrial surfaces where direct surface temperature measurement is required, including applications in welding, forging, annealing, bending, and forming operations.
Temperature-indicating sticks are applied directly to the work surface by marking before or during heating. Allow the mark to be clearly visible before heating begins so the melt point can be observed. No tools or power sources are required. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when working near heated metal or open flame.
