The MILWAUKEE 49-59-2175 is a high speed steel (HSS) annular cutter designed for drilling clean, fast holes in sheet metal and mild steel plate. It features a thin-wall construction paired with an advanced tooth geometry that cuts and clears material simultaneously during drilling. This combination produces burr-free holes while reducing the material displaced compared to standard twist-drill methods, resulting in faster cycle times and extended cutter life. The 49-59-2175 carries a 3/4-inch Weldon shank, making it compatible with most small and large magnetic drill presses when used with the appropriate arbor. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades commonly use annular cutters when field-cutting panels, enclosures, and structural steel.
The 49-59-2175 is suited for mild steel applications including sheet metal fabrication, structural plate work, and mechanical system rough-in where precise, clean-edged holes are required. The thin-wall design removes less core material than a standard hole saw or twist drill, keeping heat and friction lower during the cut. This cutter is sold individually and is intended for use with a magnetic drill press. For pilot-pin ejection, the manufacturer specifies pin part number 49-59-0012.
Designed for use with magnetic drill presses accepting a 3/4-inch Weldon shank; larger magnetic drill presses require the correct arbor adapter. Intended for mild steel applications including sheet metal and thick plate steel.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the workpiece and verify the magnetic drill press base has full, flush contact with the material before energizing the magnet. Inspect the Weldon shank set-screw engagement before each use to confirm the cutter is fully seated in the arbor. Keep cutting speeds within the drill press manufacturer's recommended RPM range for the cutter diameter to avoid premature tool wear.
