The MILWAUKEE 49-59-2156 is a high speed steel (HSS) annular cutter designed for drilling clean, fast holes in mild steel and sheet metal. Its thin-wall construction displaces less material than standard cutters, reducing cutting resistance and increasing hole speed. An advanced tooth geometry cuts and clears chips simultaneously, producing burr-free holes without secondary deburring. The 3/4 inch Weldon shank fits most small magnetic drill presses and larger units with the appropriate arbor. Licensed HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general fabrication trades rely on this cutter for field and shop metalwork where clean hole quality and tool longevity matter.
This cutter is sized at 1-9/16 inch diameter and suited for mild steel applications including sheet metal panels, structural plate, and fabricated assemblies. The thin-wall design is particularly effective where hole quality and speed are priorities over brute force removal. It is sold individually and intended for use with a compatible magnetic drill press. For pilot pin use, Milwaukee specifies pin 49-59-0012 as the compatible accessory.
Fits magnetic drill presses equipped with a 3/4 inch Weldon shank arbor. Compatible pilot pin is Milwaukee 49-59-0012. Designed for mild steel and sheet metal applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic drill press firmly to the workpiece before starting the cut, and verify the arbor is fully seated and locked before operating. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when drilling metal. Follow the tool manufacturer guidelines for cutting speed and lubrication when working with thick plate steel.
