The MILWAUKEE 49-57-8317 is a carbide-tipped annular cutter designed for cutting clean holes in sheet metal and structural materials up to 3/16 inch thick. The cutter operates with a quick-change shank, allowing fast bit swaps without additional tooling. At 1-7/32 inch bit diameter, it delivers drill-press-quality holes when used in a standard handheld drill. The carbide tip construction handles demanding materials including stainless steel and structural steel studs, while also performing reliably in brass, aluminum, and other thin sheet materials. This cutter is sold individually and weighs 0.16 pounds.
This annular cutter is suited for sheet metal work in both residential and commercial construction settings. HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and structural trades use it when punching holes through steel studs, metal decking, or sheet goods on the job site. It is particularly effective when access to a drill press is not available, as it produces comparable hole quality with a handheld drill. MILWAUKEE recommends using Hawg Wash cutting fluid during operation to extend carbide life. Hawg Wash is available separately as a 16 oz. bottle (49-32-0081), with one bottle yielding one gallon of lubricating solution.
Designed for use with MILWAUKEE quick-change arbor 49-57-0035. Fits handheld drills and drill presses equipped with a compatible quick-change system.
This cutter is installed and operated by trade professionals including HVAC technicians, electricians, and plumbers during rough-in or metal framing work. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and ensure a clean hole. Apply cutting fluid throughout the drilling process to protect the carbide tip and extend tool life. Disconnect power to the drill before changing cutters or inspecting the shank.
