The MILWAUKEE 49-57-8225 is a carbide-tipped annular cutter designed for quick-change arbor systems used in sheet plate drilling applications. With a 1-7/16 inch cutting diameter and a 1/2 inch cutting depth, this cutter is engineered for hand-held operations in steel plate and similar materials up to 3/8 inches thick. Carbide tipping allows the cutting edge to retain sharpness longer than high-speed steel or bi-metal hole saws, and the cutter produces drill-press-quality holes even in hand-held use. Licensed electricians, ironworkers, and pipefitters rely on this style of cutter for on-site hole cutting where a stationary drill press is not practical.
This cutter is suited for residential and commercial construction, structural steel fabrication, and mechanical trades work where clean, accurate holes are needed in steel plate without a drill press setup. For materials between 3/8 inches and 1/2 inch in thickness, a drill press is recommended to maintain hole quality and cutter life. When cutting depth exceeds 1/4 inch, use a compatible cutting fluid such as Hawg Wash (Milwaukee 49-32-0081) to keep the cutting surface cool and properly lubricated during the operation.
Designed for use with the Milwaukee quick-change arbor 49-57-0035. Intended for hand-held cutting in steel plate materials up to 3/8 inches thick, with drill press use recommended for materials up to 1/2 inch.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with metal drilling and magnetic or hand-held drill operation. Always power down and disconnect the tool before mounting or removing the cutter from the arbor. Confirm the arbor is fully seated and locked before beginning any cut, and wear appropriate eye and hand protection when cutting metal plate. Apply cutting fluid when cutting depth exceeds 1/4 inch to prevent heat buildup and premature cutter wear.
