The MILWAUKEE 49-57-8219 is a carbide-tipped annular cutter designed for cutting clean, drill-press-quality holes in steel plate during hand-held operations. Carbide tipping keeps the cutting edge sharper longer than high-speed steel or bi-metal hole saws, reducing downtime between tool changes. The cutter features a stainless steel quick-change shank compatible with the Milwaukee quick-change arbor system. It produces a 1-1/4 inch diameter hole with a maximum cutting depth of 1/2 inch. Licensed tradespeople working in structural steel, fabrication, and mechanical contracting will find this cutter well-suited to field conditions where a drill press is not practical.
This cutter is optimized for hand-held use in materials up to 3/8 inch thick. For material thickness between 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch, use on a drill press is recommended to maintain hole quality and cutter life. When cutting depth exceeds 1/4 inch, Hawg Wash cutting fluid should be applied to keep the cutting surface cool and properly lubricated. Hawg Wash is available separately in 16 oz. bottles (part 49-32-0081), with one bottle yielding one gallon of lubricating solution. This cutter is sold individually.
Designed for use with the Milwaukee quick-change arbor 49-57-0035. Intended for cutting steel plate and similar ferrous materials in both hand-held and drill-press applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with magnetic drill, hand drill, or drill press operations on ferrous materials. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning any cut to prevent movement. Apply Hawg Wash cutting fluid when cutting depth exceeds 1/4 inch to prevent overheating and premature cutter wear. Inspect the cutter for damage or excessive wear before each use and replace if carbide tips are chipped or dull.
