The MILWAUKEE 49-57-5500 is a threaded Steel Hawg annular cutter designed for fast, clean hole-cutting in metal. It carries a 2-3/4 inch cutting diameter and reaches a maximum hole depth of 2 inches. Carbide teeth with an alternating tooth form geometry allow this cutter to drill holes up to three times faster than conventional twist drill bits. A spring-loaded, self-ejecting pilot pin doubles as a centering pin to improve cut accuracy and speed up slug removal. The M18 x 1.5 shank thread is compatible with standard annular cutter arbors. Licensed electricians, ironworkers, and mechanical contractors typically reach for this tool when punching clean through-holes in structural steel, stainless steel, cast iron, or aluminum.
The 49-57-5500 is suited for use with electromagnetic and magnetic drill presses in commercial, industrial, and heavy residential construction applications. It is appropriate wherever clean, burr-minimized holes are required in ferrous and non-ferrous metals without a pilot hole through the full workpiece. It works with arbor 49-57-0030 on the Milwaukee 4262-1 magnetic drill press and with arbor 49-57-0010 on the Milwaukee 4292-1 magnetic drill press. It is also compatible with a No. 3 Morse taper arbor assembly 49-57-0010. Typical install scenarios include panel knockouts, conduit penetrations, structural connections, and mechanical equipment frames.
Compatible with arbor 49-57-0030 for use on the Milwaukee 4262-1 magnetic drill press, arbor 49-57-0010 for use on the Milwaukee 4292-1 magnetic drill press, and No. 3 Morse taper arbor assembly 49-57-0010. Works with most electromagnetic drill presses accepting a threaded M18 x 1.5 shank.
Annular cutters should be installed and operated by qualified tradespeople familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic drill press firmly to the workpiece and verify full magnetic contact before beginning the cut. Power down the drill press and relieve all magnetic force before changing cutters or removing the ejected slug. Always use appropriate cutting fluid on steel to extend cutter life and reduce heat buildup.
