The MILWAUKEE 49-57-1187 is a threaded Steel Hawg annular cutter designed for use with electromagnetic and magnetic drill presses. It cuts a 1-3/16 inch diameter hole through steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum at depths up to 2 inches. The cutter uses carbide teeth arranged in an alternating tooth form geometry, which accelerates material removal and extends service life compared to standard high-speed steel cutters. A spring-loaded, self-ejecting centering pin improves hole location accuracy and speeds up plug removal between cuts. The shank uses a metric M18 x 1.5 thread. Electricians, ironworkers, pipefitters, and structural steel fabricators are the primary installers.
This annular cutter is suited for residential and commercial structural steel work, electrical panel fabrication, HVAC ductwork penetrations, and pipe fitting applications where clean, accurate holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals are required. It is rated for use with most electromagnetic drill presses. Compatible arbors include 49-57-0030 for use with the Milwaukee 4262-1 magnetic drill press and 49-57-0010 for use with the Milwaukee 4292-1 mag press. The 49-57-0010 arbor also accepts a No. 3 Morse taper connection.
Compatible with most electromagnetic drill presses using an M18 x 1.5 threaded arbor. Use arbor 49-57-0030 with the Milwaukee 4262-1 magnetic drill press or arbor 49-57-0010 with the Milwaukee 4292-1 mag press. Also compatible with a No. 3 Morse taper arbor assembly 49-57-0010.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic drill press base fully to the workpiece before starting the cut and verify the workpiece is clamped or otherwise immobilized. Always use cutting oil or an appropriate coolant to extend cutter life and reduce heat buildup. Disconnect power to the drill press before changing or seating the annular cutter in the arbor.
