The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2836 is a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) HSS jobber length drill bit finished in black oxide, sold in a 6-piece pack. Built under the Thunderbolt line, it features a thicker-than-standard web core that resists side load breakage during aggressive drilling. The 135-degree split point tip starts on contact without walking, and a parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips quickly to reduce heat buildup and extend cutting life. The 3-flat Secure-Grip shank locks firmly in chuck jaws and resists slipping under torque. At 4.5 inches overall with 3.1875 inches of cutting depth, this bit handles jobsite drilling in metal, wood, and PVC with reduced feed pressure.
This bit is suited for electricians, plumbers, HVAC installers, general contractors, and maintenance technicians who drill frequently into steel, structural wood, conduit knockout reinforcements, and plastic pipe. The parabolic flute and split point combination makes it effective on curved and irregular surfaces where standard bits tend to skate. It is optimized for use with portable corded and cordless drill drivers and hammer drills in rotary-only mode. The 6-bit pack supports ongoing site work where bit replacement is a routine cost of operations.
Designed for use with standard 3-jaw drill chucks on portable corded and cordless drills. Applicable materials include metal, plastic, and wood as specified by the manufacturer.
Install in a standard 3-jaw drill chuck, tightening against the 3-flat shank faces to prevent rotation. Always wear eye protection when drilling metal or plastic. For metal drilling, use a cutting fluid to reduce heat at the tip and extend bit life. Inspect bits for tip wear or shank damage before each use and replace any bit showing cracks or significant point rounding.
