The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2746 is a black oxide jobber-length twist drill bit built for drilling through low to high tensile strength materials, stainless steel, and cast iron. Constructed from industrial-grade steel, the bit features a 135-degree split point that starts on contact to eliminate walking and a parabolic flute geometry that clears chips quickly during deep or shallow hole applications. A thicker web adds structural strength for extended service life. The black oxide coating provides lubricity and corrosion resistance throughout the life of the bit. This bit is sold individually and is sized for use in standard 1/2-inch chucks.
The 48-89-2746 is suited for professional drilling tasks in metal fabrication, mechanical repair, construction, and general trade work. Its reduced shank with three milled flats prevents slippage in jawed chucks, making it reliable in high-torque drill press and handheld drill applications. Electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general contractors handling ferrous and non-ferrous metals will find this bit appropriate for everyday jobsite drilling requirements.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch jawed chucks on handheld drills and drill presses; suitable for drilling low to high tensile strength metals, stainless steel, and cast iron.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill or drill press fully powered off and unplugged or locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the 3-flat shank firmly in the chuck before operation to prevent slippage under load. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or hard ferrous materials to reduce heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace any bit showing signs of chipping or excessive wear.
