The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2726 is a black oxide jobber length drill bit built for demanding jobsite conditions. At 6 inches in length, it features a thicker-than-standard web core that resists side-load breakage and adds overall rigidity during aggressive drilling. The 135-degree split point tip starts on contact without a center punch, eliminating bit walk and delivering accurate hole placement. A parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips and debris rapidly, reducing heat buildup and extending bit life. The black oxide coating adds lubricity and corrosion resistance. This bit is suited for electricians, plumbers, ironworkers, and general contractors working with portable drills in metal, wood, and similar materials.
This bit is designed for use in standard jobber-length drill applications across residential and light commercial construction. The reduced shank diameter allows use in 3/8-inch chucks, making it compatible with a wide range of portable drill drivers commonly found on the jobsite. The 3-flat Secure-Grip shank geometry prevents slipping inside the chuck under torque, which is especially useful on curved or angled surfaces where consistent grip matters. It is sold as individual units and suits trades that frequently drill in awkward or overhead positions where bit stability reduces rework.
Designed for use with portable drill drivers accepting 3/8-inch or larger chucks. The reduced shank diameter supports compatibility with 3/8-inch chuck models in addition to standard 1/2-inch chuck drills.
Installation is performed by electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and general trades using portable corded or cordless drills. Secure the bit fully into the chuck using all three flats of the Secure-Grip shank before drilling. When drilling metal, use appropriate cutting fluid to extend bit life and control heat. Allow the split point to establish the hole before applying full feed pressure, particularly on curved or sloped surfaces.
