The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2724 is a black oxide jobber length drill bit engineered for demanding jobsite use across metal, wood, and general construction materials. Built on the Thunderbolt platform, it features a thicker-than-standard web core that resists side-load breakage under heavy feed pressure. The 135-degree split point tip starts on contact without a center punch, eliminating bit walking and improving hole accuracy. A parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips rapidly, reducing heat buildup and extending bit life. Finished with a black oxide coating, the bit gains lubricity and corrosion resistance for longer service in field conditions.
This bit is suited for electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, general contractors, and maintenance professionals who drill frequently with portable 3/8-inch or larger chuck drills. The reduced shank diameter makes it compatible with 3/8-inch chucks, expanding its usefulness across a wide range of cordless and corded drill platforms. The 3-flat Secure-Grip shank seats firmly in the chuck and resists slipping under torque. It is well-suited for drilling on curved or irregular surfaces where bit control is critical.
Designed for use with portable corded and cordless drills equipped with 3/8-inch or larger chucks. Suitable for drilling metal, wood, and composite materials in residential and light commercial applications.
Install the bit fully into the drill chuck and tighten all three chuck jaws evenly against the 3-flat shank before use. Disconnect or power down the drill before changing bits. Use appropriate RPM settings for the material being drilled — lower speeds for harder metals, higher speeds for wood. Eye protection is required during drilling operations per standard jobsite safety practice.
