The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2713 is a black oxide jobber-length drill bit engineered for extreme durability and long service life in demanding job-site conditions. Built around the Thunderbolt web design, it features a thicker core than standard jobber bits, delivering greater resistance to side-load breakage during heavy drilling cycles. The 135-degree split point tip starts on contact without walking, and the parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips quickly to reduce heat buildup. At 6 inches in length, this bit is well-suited for electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, and general tradespeople who need consistent, accurate holes with portable drills.
This drill bit is sized for use in 3/8-inch chucks thanks to a reduced shank diameter. The 3-flat shank design locks the bit firmly in the chuck to prevent slipping under torque. The black oxide coating reduces friction at the cutting face and provides corrosion resistance for extended tool life. It is appropriate for use on flat and curved surfaces and requires less feed force than standard-ground bits, making it practical for one-handed or tight-angle portable drill applications common in trade work.
Designed for use with portable electric drills equipped with 3/8-inch or larger chucks. Compatible with corded and cordless drill drivers standard to trade use.
Drill bit installation and use should follow standard tool safety practices. Secure the bit fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the chuck key is removed before powering the drill. Use appropriate PPE including eye protection when drilling. For trade applications involving energized panels or live systems, de-energize and lock out equipment before drilling in proximity to electrical components, per applicable NFPA 70E and OSHA guidelines.
