The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2525 is a cobalt jobber-length twist drill bit built for cutting hard metals in demanding trade and industrial environments. The bit features a variable helix design that transitions from a 35-degree angle to 15 degrees, promoting rapid chip evacuation and reduced heat buildup during sustained drilling. A 135-degree split point tip provides a self-centering start and eliminates walking on hard surfaces. The shank includes a secure-grip geometry to prevent slipping in the chuck. This bit is sold individually and sized to metric specifications at 5.6 inches in length.
This drill bit is suited for electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, and general contractors who regularly drill through stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, and other tough metals. The cobalt construction makes it appropriate for production drilling where standard high-speed steel or black oxide bits wear prematurely. It fits standard drill chucks and can be used in corded or cordless drill drivers with adequate torque.
Designed for use in standard jobber-length twist drill applications; fits conventional three-jaw drill chucks used in corded and cordless drills across residential and commercial trade work.
Installation of this bit requires a drill with a chuck rated for the bit shank diameter. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the drill. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling hard metals to extend bit life and manage heat. Drilling at lower RPM with steady feed pressure is recommended for hard metal applications.
